THROWBACK TO DECEMBER

Hi everyone! Looking through my pictures, I discovered pictures from some photo shoots I had done in December of last year. At the time, I was preparing to launch my blog, shooting pictures for my very first post, pictures which I wound up never using for some odd reason.  Now that I've been blogging for almost 6 months, I feel more confident and relaxed than when I first begun and with my half anniversary around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share some of my first, ever blog-intended pictures with you all in preparation for Sapphire Brushstroke's half anniversary. The first photo shoot was supposed to be Hollywood themed, Lol! (I don't know how successful that was) and the other was a far more casual and playful shoot with  a summer vibe, which makes it perfect to share at this time. Enjoy!

JUNE FILES: SUMMER BBQ

Hello! I hope  you've all been having a wonderful week? I was editing the pictures from my interview yesterday when I decided instead to post some pictures from a Friend's BBQ I had attended in June and hadn't really thought to share. While I was going through these pictures, I also realized that there were a number of pictures from events in June and early July that I haven't shared with you all and I hope to overtime. It was a fun BBQ,dragging on till wee hours of the morning and it was a blast! It was an opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new acquaintances.

YIQING YIN - PARIS FASHION WEEK

Hello everyone. Last week, I was glued in bed watching the 2013/2014 Paris haute couture fashion shows on Fashion TV when the Yiqing Yin show came on. This was my first ever encounter with this designer and I was in awe of her creations. The collection shown at the 2013/2014 autumn/winter Paris haute couture fashion week was both ethereal and whimsical. The attention to detail and intricacy of the garments were beyond phenomenal. The collection on the models, were walking enigmas which Yiqing had brought to life. It is without doubt one of my favorite collections from the 2013/2014 Paris haute couture fashion week. Whole garments were decorated and embellished with swarovski crystals. The presence of structure in some of the  pieces coupled with it's oriental inspiration helped bring to life Yiqing's ethereal dream.

BACK HOME

Hello everyone it's been a minute since my last post and I've been absent  due to quite a bit of travelling. However, I am  now ecstatically back home and settled in with my family, and it feels great ... for the time being at least. This has been my first proper outing since I got back and It was such a lovely day, from catching up on every new addition to the city since I've been gone, to meeting up with my sisters friends and colleagues to the banter in the car with my siblings (which is always my favorite part of any day). The day was such a reminder of how much I missed being here despite the million and one things there are to complain about. While we were out running a couple errands and meeting up with people, my sister (only the most amazing person in my world) suggested to shoot at a spot in Ikoyi which had a great view of the city. It wound up being a blast and we had a bit of fun shooting and joking over falling into the ocean and not saving the other person (morbid I know). We met up with a good friend of hers over drinks, had lunch and spent the rest of the day relaxing, catching up and unwinding poolside. It was a very lovely and serene day! I hope you all are having a great summer...xxx

THE SAAB

Good evening everyone. Today has been rather eventful, I spent the whole day preparing and attending  my friends' graduation (I will be sharing pictures from the graduation with you later). In the meantime, I came home to get some rest after a very exhausting day and for some reason, I had Ellie Saab on my mind. Ellie Saab wedding dresses to me are the epitome of the perfect fantasy wedding for your not so minimalist girl. This obsession/one-sided love affair began in 2009 after I watched a live stream of the Ellie Saab haute couture show featuring some of his bridal pieces. I  had never before seen a wedding dress on a runway that I imagined walking down the aisle in without a single alteration until that faithful day. It was perfection! and since 2009, I haven't been able to picture my wedding (if i'm going to have one) without an Ellie Saab couture dress. The Saab as I fondly refer to his wedding gowns embodies everything i identify with fashion-wise. They are glamorous, classy, chic and BEAUTIFUL! Saab is to me as Vera Wang is to Emma Allen (Kate Hudson's character in bride wars)  and a million other ladies. Below are a number of pieces from his 2013 bridal collection which i'll admit is far more minimalist than many of his bridal collections but still very much an Ellie Saab collection. Not devoid of glamour, beauty and class. Enjoy!
