CAFE DES AMIS : REVIEW

Cafe des amis is a small French restaurant tucked away in a corner of Covent Garden. The brasserie styled restaurant was one of the last places I dined at before my trip back and I have to be honest, I have a lot of mixed reviews about the restaurant. Two of the first things that set the tone at any restaurant, before the meal is the service, and the ambiance. The restaurant was tidy and the decor style was  minimalist and there wasn't much that was particularly intriguing in the way of decor.

However, I did like the bar area and there was something tasteful,  about the minimalism. As for the service, we had a mixture of really sweet staff and border line hostile staff, which was quite a turn off because like most people, great service is everything to me particularly, when I'm paying for an experience. Now to the main focus of our visit; Food. The pasta linguine from the brasserie menu my friend and I opted for, was pretty average but that may be just because i've dinned Italian one too many times, to know better than to order pasta at a French restaurant. My friend's chicken dish from the main menu was just perfect. The chicken was properly cooked, tender and moist.

Now as for the desserts..... I have nothing but praise! The Lemon Sorbet was probably one of the best sorbets I've had in a while and the chocolate fondant which was the dessert of the day, was just divine! The overall presentation of all the meals was very good. All in all the experience didn't exactly make my top ten and I probably wouldn't be returning, any year soon.
