PRINTS IN MILAN

Hi guyz! I saw a quote today by a fashion blogger that read '' September is the January of fashion'' with that in mind let's review some trends from one of fashion's new year's biggest show. At Milan fashion week, the runways were raining prints. The eclectic and diverse selection of prints inspired by distinct and potent milieus were enigmatic and truly powerful. From Missoni's landscape and nature inspired prints to Dries Van Norten's rendition of his ever eclectic prints it was truly an artist's dream a real sight to behold!

THE BASKET DRESS

The last 5 weeks have been spent gaining a wealth of experience and just basking in fashion and bespoke tailoring. In addition to all of the experience I'm soaking up at the fashion house I'm interning at,  I've had the added advantage of playing dress up! Trying on outfits from previous fashion shows for clients and pieces for the new collection has been such a blast and I'd like to share my favourite piece so far.  This dress is called the basket dress and the name was derived from the structure of the skirt which is being held together by several bone pieces. While this dress has a lot of aesthetic appeal, it's not exactly made for sitting because it was specifically made for the runway. However, this hasn't stopped certain socialites and musicians from gracing the red carpet in this very piece....

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK : SNOW FLAKES

The Spring 2014 New York Fashion Week is in full swing and will round up on the 12th to give way  to the spring 2014 London Fashion Week. So far, it's safe to say 'WHITE' as a fall/winter and now spring trend is here to stay! The constant presence of white on the catwalks of everyone from Philip Lim to Carolina Herrera nearly transformed the runway to several crystallines of carefully crafted and structured snowflakes. By the time the collections transitioned into other prints, colors and fabrics like tartan, one had nearly forgotten that it wasn't all about winter and snowflakes. It was a Dream!
