MID 20's ENTREE: VINTAGE STYLE

Hi guys!I turned 24 precisely 10 days ago and so far so good it's been great. Most years I tend to feel the same after my birthday because I've had to wait the whole year in anticipation of my birthday and I start telling people as early as June that I'm a year older than I actually am because i really do feel that way already. This year however has been a little different.

 I don't feel dramatically transformed or anything like that but I do feel sort of a calmer sense of awareness that I am officially in my mid-twenties. It's kind of an exciting and anticipatory time of my life because like we all do at some point in our late teens or early twenties, I set goals and have a very clear idea of where I want to be and who I want to be around this age. Realistic or not, that tends to come with it's fair share of pressure which thanks to the grace of God, hasn't come crashing down or me or made me feel overwhelmed. If anything I feel a fresh sense of purpose and I've let go (to the best of my abilities for now) of the illusion of control and I've learnt to rest more on the grace and kindness of God. It really does make everything better and more peaceful.

So I do my best to focus like my destiny depends on it, (cause it does) on working towards my dreams and walking into fulfillment of my purpose, never wavering and always trusting that at the appointed time everything will come to fruition.

So here's to all the youngins getting ageing and destiny fulfillment anxiety: CALM TE HECK DOWN! everything will be alright, enjoy where you are right now no matter how underwhelming it might feel and just stayed focused on the future.

Onto my actual look, this is my first look on the blog at 24 so whoop! I went a touch floraly and vintage inspired so that was fun and on a completely random note I do feel a little wiser though (that's probably my juvenile alter ego speaking but Hey!)

WILD CANADIAN TUXEDO

Hi guys! I shot this busy and somewhat ecclectic denim look and it was kind of interesting for me cause I normally wouldn't have soo much going on but for some reason I just loved the look. The prescence of varying shades of leopard print, the gold accents from the jewelry and all that grey from my hair made for a very interesting mix. I also liked the idea of shooting against two different backdrops; One well lit by the sun and against a very organic tropical background and another more mute and composed with hints of grey from stones that complimented my hair.

#TBT - 90'S RETRO

Hi guys! So oversized blazers and silhouettes this Fashion Season are all the rave and quite frankly they've been on trend for a few years now. Choosing to have a little fun with this trend, I decided to throw it all the way back to my birth era ( hey what can I say? forever a 90's baby!) and what do you know, It's throwback Thursday after all.  Wearing my loyalty, I'm repping my friend's concierge company Koshila Concierge with their brand T-shirt; Add on a few modern twists like some contemporary architecture and bright orange lips and Voila! You have you the perfect retro 90's look.

MIXED BACKGROUNDS

Hi guys, Long time no post. It's been a whirlwind year going through and finally rounding up my National Youth Service year a.k.a (NYSC) so it's something of a relief to get back to owning my time and life . I'm excited and a little nervous to see what this next chapter of my life holds and hopefully it comes with a lot less interruptions to my passions but I guess only time will tell. As far as today goes, for my welcome party,  In addition to the most distressed jeans alive, I'm sporting equal part excitement and cavalier coolness with separate backdrops to boot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME : JUNGLE SECRETS

Hi guys. Hope you've all been great. 

So its my birthday today and in honour of this August ocassion, i've decided to break my silence. 

I've also decided to pull a little Cinderella (sort of) and share with you guys just before the stroke of 12:00 what I was up to for 3 weeks of the time I was away. 

Granted its a ton less glamorous than you are used to but the 3 week national youth service corp paramilitary orientation camp for graduates was a blast. 

I met a lot of amazing people, rediscovered how much fun I used to have rolling solo and underwent some not soo fun yet sometimes hilarious paramilitary drills.

  For a few years now, I've just been more into heavy layered or loose fitting looks,  than curve hugging pieces and I'm not quite sure at what point I made the switch stylewise but I've really enjoyed it.  

Now even though I can feel myself getting back into a more silhouette conscious faze, I'm still very much in my element in baggy clothing.

REVISITING GRADUATION 3 MONTHS LATER

Hi guys! So its been exactly 3 months since a technical glitch took my blog offline and I had tried and given up on trying to get it back online. I enlisted everyone from google, to my domain provider, to my fantastic techi specialist and no one seemed able to fix the problem.

I had  largely accepted the fact that I had lost 2 years and 5 months worth of my work, except for that little bit of hope that led me here last night,  to try  one more time and it actually worked.

So here I am blogging again  (long victory dance). Turns out Sapphire Brushstrokes wasn't quite done with me afterall !

So with that being said, here are some images from my graduation back in July, which I've really been looking forward to sharing with you..

I actually completed my degree in 2014 but didn't attend my graduation ceremony until July of this year. So I figured a bold statement by way of patterned shoes and a pink jacket dress was in order.
